MATERIALS FOR A 7"(18cm) BRACELET

6lb FireLine fishing line

1.8mm cube beads—6 to 7 grams

½" (1cm) shank button—1

Size 14/0 seed beads—4 grams

4mm bicone crystals—22

TOOLS

Size 10 or 12 beading needle—1

Scissors

Making the Basic Band

1 Single thread your needle with as much thread as you can handle.

2 Tie a waste bead on the end of your thread, leaving an 8" (20cm) tail.

3 Refer to the instructions for making a square stitch band. See the Caterpillar Bracelet, Making the Square Stitched Band, page 60. Instead of using three of the larger cubes as directed in those instructions, use five of the mini cubes, and take them to the end of your thread.

4 Remember to pass back through the previous row and the one you just finished as you complete each row, in order to reinforce and align the beads.

5 Continue weaving as above until you are three rows short of meeting around your wrist.

Adding the Button

1 Weave in the first two beads of the next row, as shown in Figure 8. Skip the third bead and weave in the remaining two beads, as shown. Your thread will show between beads. Be sure to pass back through the rows to reinforce.
